Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily the most highly anticipated game of 2026, assuming that's when it actually releases of course. The game has already faced two delays, pushing its launch back to November of next year and stoking fears that a third delay is entirely possible. But, believe it or not, some players already got their hands on "GTA 6"—and they're playing it on the PlayStation 2.

In a hilarious discovery (via Reddit) at a random outdoor marketplace, a player has stumbled upon a PlayStation 2 copy of "GTA 6." Fans speculate it's most likely a modded version of GTA Vice City or San Andreas, while others dare to dream it's the real deal.

GTA 6 On PlayStation 2? Probably Not Legit

While there have been dozens of very convincing AI-generated hoaxes presented online claiming to be legit Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, arguably none have been so bold as a blatant PlayStation 2 ripoff copy of GTA 6 being sold at the market. While it's obviously not the real thing, you almost have to buy it to see what mysteries wait inside.

Redditors surmise that, at best, this is a modded Vice City ripoff being sold as GTA 6, but more than likely it's just a repackaged copy of VC or San Andreas with GTA 6 imagery. Still, it's hilarious to think about what a PS2 version of GTA 6 would even look like, with Iixotic- saying, "Can't wait to experience the seamless 144p resolution at a cinematic 4 frames per minute."

GTA 6 knock-offs are very likely to be found in more places as the game's release draws closer, especially among bootleggers. Also, in case you weren't sure, no PlayStation 2 version of GTA 6 is currently planned.

We Still Kinda Want To Try It Ourselves

While it's a hilarious find, the fake PS2 GTA 6 sale is actually kind of ingenius. You almost have to get it to see what it actually is, even though it's pretty clear you're definitely not getting the actual Grand Theft Auto 6. The merchant is certainly going to get someone to buy this just out of morbid curiosity, despite it being blatant false advertising.

Either way, this PlayStation 2 copy of Grand Theft Auto 6 might be the closest thing anyone gets to playing the game for at least the next year. GTA 6 is scheduled to release November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
