The Tennessee Titans fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday and watched their struggling wide receiver corps take another hit when fan-favorite Xavier Restrepo was injured in the second half.

After grabbing his ankle following his lone reception against the Jaguars, Restrepo had to be carted off the field, leaving fans and players fearing the worst. Following the game, interim head coach Mike McCoy confirmed it was an ankle injury but had no update on its severity, as Restrepo was still being evaluated.

While McCoy offered no real update on Restrepo or safety Amani Hooker (ribs) during his weekly press conference, a social media report indicates that Restrepo has an ankle sprain and did not break his ankle as many feared when the cart came onto the field.

The injury will create a unique situation this week for the Titans and for the fan base that monitors Restrepo’s progress. Although it appeared that he had passed Mason Kinsey on the depth chart heading into Week 13, the rookie wide receiver technically sits on the practice squad, meaning Tennessee will not be required to update his status throughout the week.

The former undrafted rookie free agent has become a fan favorite since being signed by the Titans following the 2025 NFL draft, and made his NFL debut in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks. Knocked for his lack of measurables coming in, Restrepo looked comfortable during his first game, and the chemistry he shared in college with Cam Ward was apparent.

Through two games, he has pulled in three passes for 41 yards and looked like he was slowly carving out a role and possibly a spot on the 53-man roster. Unfortunately, he will have to wait until he is recovered for another shot.
