Newcastle United players have been impressed with what they have seen from so far from Yoane Wissa in training, according to Sky Sport journalist Keith Downie. The DR Congo international forward joined Newcastle from Brentford on summer transfer deadline day but has yet to make his debut for the St James’ Park club. Wissa left for the September World Cup qualifiers days after joining the Magpies, but he injured his knee the following week against Senegal, returning to England afterwards.

He has not played since then and only recently returned to full training after suffering relapses. Wissa is expected to finally make his Newcastle debut this month having not played club football this term. The 29-year-old has been putting in work in training, blowing away his teammates, and the fans cannot wait to see him in action.

“I was speaking to one of the Newcastle players last week who said to me he has been training alongside them for a number of days now,” Downie said on his YouTube channel.

“He looks, the word that was given to me was ‘frightening’. He looks absolutely frightening. He looks red hot in training, really sharp, finishing superb.

“The rest of the Newcastle players have been really impressed with what they have seen from Yoane Wissa in training.”

Summer arrival Nick Woltemade has been tasked with replacing the goals of Alexander Isak, and the German has weighed in with seven goals in 17 appearances across all competitions so far.
