The Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua fight, set for December 19, 2025, has drawn both criticism and support from fans and analysts on the internet. Many have deemed it to be the toughest test of Paul’s boxing career because the odds are stacked at Joshua’s side. However, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley thinks that Paul might still win.
Tyron Woodley shares his take on Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua’s fight
Tyron Woodley, speaking on the Ariel Helwani show, revealed that Paul might have a shot in the Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua fight. The latter is a former two-time unified world champion and 2012 Olympic gold medalist. Woodley points to Paul’s history of surprising performances and said the matchup will depend on Joshua.
He said, “Depending on what version of Anthony Joshua comes out depends on if Jake has what we’ll call a ‘chance.’ When you’re fighting, if you’ve got knockout power, you’ve got belief in yourself, you’ve got some speed, some agility to move around, you always have a chance. We’ve seen crazier things happen.” (via Ariel Helwani show)

He lost his mind when he fought me. He lost his mind when he fought Anderson [Silva], when he fought Nate [Diaz]. He lost his mind when he wanted to fight professionally and switched from amateurs. It’s really kind of been his theme.”
Adding, he said, “I feel like the only person that hurt him ever was me. The only person that he lost to (Tommy Fury) was somebody that actually boxed him, that actually took him seriously, used the jab, and moved around. And I feel like we’ve seen fights where Anthony didn’t do that, and we’ve seen fights where he did.”
Despite his comments, Woodley did not sugarcoat the odds that do not lie in Jake Paul’s favor when it comes to his fight against Anthony Joshua. He said, “I don’t think this fight is even. I think that Anthony Joshua is a better boxer. I think he has more power.”
