Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hoops
College Basketball’s first NET rankings of the season were released on Monday, and the Missouri Tigers check in at No. 51 after an 8-0 start.
A woeful strength of schedule has set Mizzou right outside of the Top 50. The Tigers SOS currently ranks 364th out of 365 teams (yikes) with their best win over a Minnesota team that counts as a Quad 3 victory. Everything else is Quad 4.

Despite questionable scheduling leading up to this point, Mizzou is on the verge of cracking the Top 25. In the latest AP poll released on Monday — Missouri has received votes but sits five spots outside at No. 30.
In And Katz’s latest Power 37 rankings — Mizzou checks in at N0. 20. (up three spots from last week).
20. Missouri (Prev. 23): Missouri is getting no love. They are 8-0 and will finally get on the national stage against Kansas in Kansas City.
In Jon Rothstein’s Top 45 — Mizzou comes in at No. 31. Metrics wise, the Tigers are currently 30th on KenPom and Bart Torvik.
This is a pivotal week for Dennis Gates’ squad to prove that they’re a Top 25 team, and it starts later tonight at Notre Dame in the SEC/ACC Challenge (8:00 p.m. CST on ESPNU).
Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+Morning Commute from True Deck: Kiffin, other coaches on the move
Because of the timing of the College Football Playoff — which Ole Miss is in for the first time in program history — LSU was on a clock to make a decision and lock in a coach before other teams did. The result? A messy goodbye for Kiffin.
Happy coaching carousel season!
