But like a Phoenix from the ashes, an unlikely hero, Collin Gillespie, dropped a career-high 28 points to carry a team without its best player.

Gillespie has long been known for his achievements as a Villanova Wildcat but performances like these could make him a household name as a pro.

The young guard is no stranger to big games and has won at the highest of levels in both college and in the NBA.

Has Collin Gillespie won an NCAA Championship?

Collin Gillespie won an NCAA Championship in 2018 with the Villanova Wildcats under head coach Jay Wright.

He averaged 10.9 points in 29 minutes per game as a starter on that Villanova team. He scored four points and added five rebounds in the Wildcats' national title victory over Michigan.

Gillespie was also named Big East Player of the Year twice in 2021 and 2022.

Has Collin Gillespie won the NBA Title?

Collin Gillespie held the Larry O'Brien Trophy as a rookie with the Denver Nuggets.

Unlike his days at Villanova, Gillespie never took the floor his rookie year. He suffered a low leg fracture which required surgery before the season started.

Nonetheless he still earned a ring as a part of Denver's 2023 team.

What is Collin Gillespie's role with the Phoenix Suns?

Collin Gillespie has been a key contributor for the Suns this year averaging 12.7 points and 5 assists in 26 minutes per game.

Booker suffered a groin injury during the Lakers game but even when he's been healthy, Gillespie was putting up great performances. If Booker is out for more games, the young guard will certainly be relied on moving forward to generate offense.
