After falling to Texas, Texas A&M is a lock to make the CFP, and is still regarded as one of the best teams in the country.

It was always assumed that if Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) didn't finish 12-0 during the regular season, a drop in the College Football Playoff Rankings was imminent, especially if a loss to rival Texas came to fruition. Well, after winning 11 games for the first time since 1992, the Aggies entered Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium with plenty of emotion, but ended up leaving Austin (TX) with its first defeat of the year.

Falling 27-17 behind starting quarterback Marcel Reed's worst performance of the season, Texas A&M is still a lock to make the CFP. Still, the Aggies will likely drop several spots after sitting safely at No. 3 for the entirety of November, but this isn't the end of the world, and it could be beneficial down the line.

Despite the loss, Texas A&M has accomplished more than expected during head coach Mike Elko's second season at the helm, and with two weeks before the first-round of the CFP, where the Aggies will likely host a lower seed in Kyle Field on December 19 or 20, senior running back Le'Veon Moss, who has missed the last five games with an ankle injury, is due to return for the first time since late October.

If Texas A&M's offense is back to full strength with added rest, I fully expect this team to go on a run, especially if Moss looks like the player who was his way to eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark. However, the Aggies were the only team in the top 13 of USA TODAY Sports' Re-Rank to drop, falling from No. 3 to No. 5, which could reflect where Texas A&M ends up in the CFP Rankings on Tuesday night.

Again, losing to a Texas team that, while inconsistent, is still one of the toughest matchups in the conference, especially on the road.
