The Denver Broncos notched their tenth win of the season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football. It was a back-and-forth gridiron battle and an overtime thriller. Moreover, emblematic of the gusty and gritty identity the team has forged during their 2025 campaign. It may not always look pretty, but throughout the season, the Broncos have proven they have the ability to win close games.
Many other top teams struggled in Week 13, Denver was able to grind out another big victory. Now sitting at 10-2, our beloved orange and blue are tied with the New England Patriots for the best record in the AFC and the presumptive top seed in the AFC playoff race. Even better? They sport a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Chargers with just five games to go.

But even with their most recent primetime victory, the Broncos players are still eager to show they have a lot more to prove in order to achieve their goals and aspirations—a deep playoff run and a shot to compete for another Lombardi Trophy.
“There’s something special, but we also feel like there’s more in the tank. We also feel like there’s more to grow from. As much as we feel like we’ve had success, there’s a lot of guys in that locker room that are eager to perform better,” stated quarterback Bo Nix in his post-game presser.
One big reason for the Broncos victory last night was how their offense performed in overtime. It was an up-and-down game for the unit during the first four quarters. Yet once again, late-game heroics took over, and they rose to the occasion when it mattered most. If they could somehow find a way to replicate such success earlier in games, there is no telling how great the offense could be.
And while the defense has been tremendous most of the year, they certainly weren’t at their best against the Commanders. They struggled to execute against the run, whiffed on a lot of tackles, and had a hard time stopping Marcus Mariota through the air. Even so, on the game’s final play, they came together and stopped Washington’s two-point conversion.

We’ve been battle-tested all year, so today was nothing new from what we did,” stated edge rusher Nik Bonitto whose batted down pass proved to be the major difference maker between a win and loss.
Make no mistake Broncos Country, Denver is in control of their own destiny. It’s been a long time since they have been able to say that. That itself is praiseworthy. It’s a reason for fans to be excited. But Nix is right, they need to be more consistent in order to get to where they want to be.
Nobody knows how things will shake out in the final weeks of the season. Three of their last five games are against division rivals and we all know division games are always tough and unpredictable. The other two are against the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars who both appear poised to make the postseason.
It’s not an easy late of games. Though if the Broncos have shown anything this year, it’s that they are tenacious and have the ability to compete with any team in NFL. Their first division title in a decade and the #1 seed is just within their grasp. If they can start firing on all cylinders, they should be able to secure both of them. How sweet would that be?
