The HP Omen Max 16 is one of the most impressive gaming laptops we've tested in 2025, and has since become a firm favorite. Thanks to the Cyber Monday gaming laptop deals that are happening right now, this offering just got a whole lot more appealing. There had already been an impressive $560 knocked off the price over the weekend, but now that discount has been increased to a commanding $685 to bring it down to just $2,474.99 at Best Buy. Considering this is already a gaming laptop we highly recommend at a higher price, that makes it even more tempting.
The sleek and streamlined design hides away an impressive selection of components under the hood, including an RTX 5080 GPU and an Intel Core Ultra 9 to keep things running smoothly, and in our benchmarking tests this set up performed exceedingly well. There's also a 16" OLED screen running at 240Hz for crisp and bright visuals, while a 2TB SSD means you've got plenty of storage to work with. This is the best gaming laptop on the market in our books, but the clock is quickly ticking down on the Cyber Monday deal so you'll need to act fast if you want to take advantage of it.

In our HP Omen Max 16 review, we highlighted it as one of the best models of the year and our go-to recommendation for a future-proofed system at a reasonable price – a summation that has held up despite the more recent arrival of similar systems such as the Alienware 16 Area-51 and Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 10.
There's a lot to like about the Omen Max 16, and although we reviewed the crisp White version the Shadow Black finish is just as sleek. HP have packed this offering into a smart form factor, making it easier to transport and less intrusive, while still giving the components room to breathe. Its performance is great, and the Omen Max 16 scored very highly on our benchmarking, behaving more like an RTX 5090 at times as it tore through various tests.
Of course, the HP Omen Max 16 isn't completely without issues, and while we liked the appearance of the RGB keyboard we did feel parts of the full keyboard were a little squished and noticed an amount of flex in the deck – not enough to feel spongy but a little disappointing for a premium build. There's also the battery to consider, as while this gaming laptop excels when plugged in, remove the power and performance drops significantly, while also giving you a little over an hour before reserves are completely drained.
However, those issues aside, this is still our top recommendation for a gaming laptop in this price range, and with the generous discount currently applied it's even more appealing.
