The Green Bay Packers made one roster move on Monday, releasing rookie wide receiver Will Sheppard from the 53-man roster. Sheppard was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster last Wednesday as emergency depth at wide receiver with Matthew Golden and Savion Williams both out with injuries for the Packers' 31-24 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Sheppard's release suggests the Packers are comfortable with the receiver depth entering Week 14. Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that it's possible Jayden Reed, who is on injured reserve, and Golden, who has missed two games with a wrist injury, could play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

The Packers now have an open roster spot, which could go to Reed if he's activated before Sunday. The team also opened the 21-day practice windows for running back MarShawn Lloyd and defensive end Brenton Cox Jr. on Monday, so general manager Brian Gutekunst will have options for filling the roster. The Packers are also expected to place defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt on injured reserve, and it's possible his roster spot will go to a player who can provide depth behind Karl Brooks, Warren Brinson and Nazir Stackhouse.

Sheppard was active for Week 13 but did not play a snap on offense or special teams.

Sheppard, who went undrafted out of Colorado and originally signed with the Packers in late July, is likely to return on the practice squad.
