Michigan State, like the rest of college football, is gearing up for national signing day on Wednesday, where they look to lock in a good portion of their 2026 recruiting class.

For the Spartans, the road gets challenging when it comes to locking down their 2026 class, considering they have made a coaching change from Jonathan Smith to Pat Fitzgerald. Another Michigan State commit has come out and reaffirmed his desire to sign with the Spartans this week.

Eddie Whiting was that prospect, a Sioux Falls (SD) native, he is a 6-foot-6, 230 pound standout at Jefferson High School that ranks as a 3-star prospect. The future Spartan will come in as a tight end.

A massive development for the Spartans future coaching staff, Whiting was one of the first commitments for the Spartans in the 2026 class. He announced his commitment to Michigan State in early February, picking the Spartans over notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, UCLA, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.
