When James Franklin was hired as Virginia Tech’s head coach two weeks ago, he immediately scheduled two big recruiting weekends. Those weekends would feature several of his former Penn State commitments and targets he’d like to bring to Virginia Tech. One of those visitors was four-star quarterback Troy Huhn.
Huhn, a 6-foot-4.5, 215-pound passer from Mission Hills, California, initially committed to Penn State under Franklin. However, once the Hokies hired Franklin, they became the leader in Huhn’s recruitment. On Monday, two days before the early signing period begins, Huhn committed to Virginia Tech.
Earlier in the morning, Cole Bergeron, who had been committed to the Hokies for months, decommitted after visiting Blacksburg and meeting Franklin for the first time this weekend. Bergeron and Huhn were ranked closely in most rankings, but it appears that once it became clear that Kuhn would be a Hokie, Bergeron opened up his options.

Huhn is likely the only quarterback Tech will sign out of high school, but expect the Hokies to shop for an experienced starter. A big get for the Hokies, and it was all due to his relationship with Franklin.
Here’s Huhn’s commitment if you were interested:
Kuhn is a 3-star prospect, according to 247Sports in-house rankings, but a 4-star, per the composite rankings.
