This isn't a cool thing to do.

Justin Herbert was injured in the first quarter of Sunday's Chargers win over the Raiders.

He returned to the game with a big glove/cast-like thing on his left hand.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders appeared to seek out that hand.

On a run by Kimani Vidal, in which Herbert found himself in the action as the RB cut it back the other way, Herbert tried to stay out of the way.

Raiders linebacker Elandon Roberts chased the play but wasn't particularly close to Vidal when he appeared to make a hard move toward that Herbert left hand.

You can see it below, with No. 52 coming in toward Herbert (10) at the end:

That's not particularly cool.

Some football old-schoolers might thing this is fair game, but in general, it's a bad look. The NFL wants to protect its star quarterbacks, of which Herbert certainly fits the description.

He needed surgery on Monday, and the Chargers might have to change their offense up based on how Herbert can or can't handle certain snaps.

And they'll need to watch where Herbert winds up late in plays. He apparently will be in the line of fire even when he doesn't have the football.
