PREVIOUS RANKINGS: Preseason
Top 25 High School Girls Basketball Rankings
1. Archbishop Mitty (CA) (0-0 – 1st last week)
The Monarchs tip off this week at the La Jolla Country Day Sweet 16 Tournament.
2. Ontario Christian (CA) (5-0 – 2nd)

Picking up where it left off last season, Ontario Christian started by beating three strong opponents – Nazareth, O'Connor, and Esperanza – by a combined score of 308-123. It then headed to Texas to blow out nationally ranked Lancaster 86-63 and Denton Ryan 96-43.

LuHi dips its feet in the water this week against Virginia Beach Catholic and Archbishop Carroll (PA) before taking on Bishop McNamara and St. John's the following week.
4. Sierra Canyon (CA) (2-0 – 5th)
So far so good for the Trailblazers. They opened up with a drubbing of Sierra Pacific and a 71-50 win against a Fairmont Prep team that might crack the top 25 at some point this season. They face more tough SoCal competition this week versus San Clemente, JSerra, and Sage Hill, but they'll be the overwhelming favorite in each game.
5. IMG Academy (FL) (5-0 – 7th)
Taking care of business, and at times, dazzling. The Ascenders have blown out Windermere Prep, Fort Erie International, and Kinkaid and beaten Princeton and Lincoln (Dallas) by single digits.

Westtown cruised past Germantown Academy and Hoosac School to start the season. Its next game, however, might be its toughest all season – The St. James Performance Academy.
7. DME Academy (FL) (7-0 – Bubble)
DME Academy wasted no time in announcing itself in the national title chase. It won its first six seven by at least 20 points each, including 83-52 over Grind Prep and 66-46 over Legion Prep.
8. Legion Prep (TX) (2-1 – 3rd)
If the Bulldogs' mentality this season is "national title or bust", then 2025-26 is already off to a rocky start for them thanks to a 20-point rout at the hands of DME Academy. If it's not "national title or bust" then they'll be fine. Legion Prep bounced back immediately to hand The St. James Performance Academy its first-ever loss.

Two games into program history, the Strivers appear to be as expected – one of the best teams in the nation from the get-go, but not immediately unbeatable. They opened up with a 73-27 annihilation of Houston Christian, a team that entered with two wins against nationally ranked competition. Then they fell 66-57 to one of the only teams with even more high major talent – Legion Prep.
10. Etiwanda (CA) (5-0 – 10th)
The reigning national champion opened up with three blowouts of high-level competition – Nazareth (NY), St. Joseph (Santa Maria), and Lynwood – before narrowly beating a defensively gifted Redondo Union team it was expected to dismantle. 44 points was Etiwanda's lowest point total since 2021, but it held its competition to 40. The Eagles' offense came around in the next game when they rolled fellow SoCal power Sage Hill 81-57.

SPIRE Academy is yet to tip off.
12. Bishop McNamara (MD) (0-0 – 12th)
The Mustangs get right into it this week facing Friends' Central and St. Frances Academy. That should be a more-than-adequate for their next game, which is against Long Island Lutheran.
13. Princess Anne (VA) (0-0 – 13th)
Will anybody in Virginia (or elsewhere) give Princess Anne anything close to a run for its money in 2025-26? That's yet to be determined, but don't hold your breath. The Cavaliers get going this week against in-state opponents Bayside, Manchester, and Gainesville.

Per MaxPreps, the Huskies don't have any games scheduled until after the transfer sit-out period ends around Dec. 26.
15. Johnston (IA) (1-0 – 16th)
Johnston took care of Cedar Falls handily to start 2025-26.
16. Mater Dei (CA) (5-0 – 17th)
So far so good for the Monarchs, who are 5-0 with all wins coming by at least 12 points against some tough in-state competition, including Oak Park.
17. Tualatin (0-0 – 18th)
Tipoff is still more than a week away for the Timberwolves.
18. St. John's (DC) (1-0 – 23rd)
The Cadets started with a bang, winning 66-65 against a Bullis team that was fresh off an 80-15 beatdown of Maret. Unsurprisingly, Florida State commit Morgan Stewart had 28 points in the victory.

Bullis looked unbeatable in an 80-15 annihilation of Maret, but St. John's had other plans. The Bulldogs have four more chances for quality wins before the Nike TOC, however, facing Bishop Ireton, St. Francis (Alpharetta), IMG Academy, and Georgetown Day.
20. Wagner (TX) (10-0 – Unranked)
Wagner has been so good through 10 games, all wins, that it goes straight to the top 25 without having started on the bubble. With the addition of Kyzarriah Fox from Antonian Prep who joins the emerging Nia McBride, Elle Williams, and Nahilah Bell, Wagner now has one of the best junior cores in Texas and beyond. Senior guards Leah Mitchell and Shaniyah Fox have also been key in Wagner's fast start, which includes wins over Brennan, Mansfield, Plano East, and Sotomayor.

The next era of Sidwell Friends girls hoops begins this week against formidable Virginia Beach Catholic.
22. San Ramon Valley (CA) (3-0 – 25th)
After blowing out Saint Francis (Mountain View) and Moreau Catholic, the Wolves won 64-56 to avoid upset against Caruthers, another one of Northern California's top teams.
23. Arrowhead (WI) (1-0 – Bubble)
The reigning state Wisconsin D1 state semifinalist returns nearly its whole core including 5-star senior guard Natalie Kussow (Minnesota). The Warhawks' second game against Whitefish Bay (3-0) was postponed due to weather after they blew out Manitowoc Lincoln in their opener.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement24. Belleville (MI) (0-0 – Bubble)
With a few teams falling out of the top 25 quickly, Belleville takes a spot even though it hasn't tipped off because it was our preseason No. 27. The Tigers return a laundry list of talent headlined by 5-star junior guard Sydney Savoury after going 28-1 with a state title last season.
25. Montverde Academy (FL) (2-1 – 8th)
With so many new parts assimilating at once, Montverde Academy was a strong candidate to get upset early in the season. Its 72-69 loss to Faith Family Academy at SheGotGame Classic Hawaii wouldn't be a big deal in the rankings if Faith Family Academy hadn't previously lost to North Crowley and Kamehameha Kapalama. Those two teams are now on national watch, but both have two losses to opponents outside the top 25.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSo, with so much top-tier talent in tow, the Eagles are likely enough to come roaring back quickly that they get a rare and temporary vote of confidence here with opportunities for big wins coming up. They did defeat Kamehameha Kapalama 58-40 before the loss.
