The Georgia Bulldogs will play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, for the first time in series history on Black Friday. Entering the 2025 matchup, Georgia leads the 116-game series history 72-39-5 and has won seven games in a row against the Yellow Jackets. Georgia has not lost to Georgia Tech in Atlanta since 1999.
In an decision for "a transformative revenue lift", former Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt elected to forgo a home game against Georgia and instead play in Mercedes-Benz. Georgia and Georgia Tech have played at an on campus venue every year since 1913, so exactly how much of a revenue lift is Georgia Tech getting?

The Bulldogs are only making their usual $300,000 guarantee (same as the 2023 season). As the home team, Georgia Tech will also keep all revenues from the game including parking, ticket sales, concessions and merchandise.
Making $10 million will help Georgia Tech fund name, image and likeness (NIL) deals for their players. In a similar move, Auburn gave up a 2026 home game against Baylor and moved it to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
An increased NIL fund could help Georgia Tech retain and recruit more elite players. During the offseason, Georgia Tech notably lost wide receiver Eric Singleton (who left Auburn for over $1 million) and defensive lineman Romello Height (who left for Texas Tech for $1.5 million) to the transfer portal.
